Emma Housner is one of the biggest talents from the USA currently dancing Brazilian Zouk, despite her age already a very experienced and trained dancer. With a background in ballet, contemporary and jazz, she has the knowledge and skills to help you discover different layers in your body and your dance.
1. Creativity and musicality
The goal of this class is to expand creativity through musicality and visualisation techniques. You all have steps in your arsenal, let’s learn how to use them in a thoughtful, artistic, and fun way!
3. Tilted turns
Tilted turn—-one of the hardest and most unique techniques in Zouk! Here, you’ll learn to find your core through pelvic stabilization exercises on done the floor. Then well stand up and you’ll feel the difference!
This class is about the opposition we use in our bodies to gain stability. I was to start with some basic Bartinief fundamentals (modern technique- don’t worry it’ll be fun!) to find that opposition. We’ll carry this idea throughout the class while we find stabilization through stepping and head movements!
4. Moving vs Dancing
Moving vs dancing will take your Zouk to the next level. This class will teach you to have a conversation with your dance; social dances give every person a chance to communicate, let’s find your voice!

Zouk bio (nov 2018)
Emma has been dancing since the age of three. She started in a local dance company in Michigan where she trained solo dances intensely until she moved out to LA at 18 to pursue a bachelors degree in dance (which will be completed in May 2019!). This degree includes dance pedagogy studies, ballet, jazz, and modern technique training, anatomy instruction, and more. Her solo dance accomplishments include; touring with “LA Dance Magic” convention as a professional assistant to some of LA’s best choreographers, signing to The Movement Talent Agency, work with Disney parks and Radio Disney, appearances on a YouTube series, and starting her own production company (to be released soon!)
She started her journey with partner dance at age 16 when she started American style ballroom. This evolved into salsa and Bachata training, which she soon began teaching along with ballroom during her university studies. Once she found Zouk in fall of 2016, she shifted all of her partner dancing focus to this extraordinary dance. Since then, she has trained with Renata Peçanha USA; co-directed season 2 of Zouk Babes LA, taught at events such as, Denver Zouk weekender, Zouk MX, Armada Zouk Cabin, NYC Zouk Festival, Austin inspired movement weekender, and Zouk Essence Winter weekender; and teaches regular privates at home (LA area) and during travels.
